Sheila Ann Akui, 74, of Hilo died Feb. 1 at home. Born in Canton, Ohio, she was a caregiver and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday (Feb. 24) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Memorial Mass at 9:30 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by husband, Roderick Akui of Hilo; sons, Robert (Shelden) Ronia of Keaau and Keolamaikeakua (Lola) Akui of Hilo; daughters, Leila (Preston) Antonio of Mountain View, Kimberly (Derek) Saldana of Keaau and Rachel Akui of Puna; sister, Anita (George) Moniz of Palolo; 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. Harriet Lehua Ichinotsubo, 76, of Pepeekeo died Nov. 25 at Hilo Medical Center. Born and raised in Kapoho, she was a floral nursery worker and member of various kupuna hula groups. Asaichi “Asa” Hokomoto, 96, of Hilo, formerly of Pepeekeo, died Dec. 28 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was retired from the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and member of Honomu Hongwanji Kyodan and Koyukai, ILWU Pensioner Club and Honomu Kupuna Pride Senior Softball League.
